We’re writing this blog with our Mom hats on today instead of our usual outlook as teachers. We both have three kids of our own, and we’re incredibly grateful for the wonderful educators that have helped shape our children throughout their educational journey. Our children have been blessed with some exceptional educators that have given them both knowledge and love. For all that they do for our kids and their other students, we love recognizing and maybe even spoiling them a bit come Teacher Appreciation Week!
Teacher Appreciation Week is an annual occasion in May to recognize the dedication, hard work, and impact teachers have on students, schools, and communities. It’s a time to pause and reflect on the immense role teachers play in shaping the future. Although gratitude toward teachers should not be confined to just one week of the year, Teacher Appreciation Week provides a perfect opportunity to go the extra mile in expressing thanks.
With Teacher Appreciation Week right around the corner, the pressure to do something grand or expensive can make it feel like more of a stressor than a celebration. Not to mention if you have older children in middle or high school, the sheer number of teachers can be daunting. But don’t worry—we’ve got you covered! You don’t need a hefty budget or a lot of time to make teachers feel truly appreciated. With a little creativity and some heartfelt gestures, you can give them a week to remember.
The best part, we’ve done the creativity piece for you! Here are some fun and inexpensive ideas that will make any educator feel valued—without the stress! Simply print these cards, have your child sign their name by the heart, and write a personalized thank you message on the back. Each designs comes with multiple cards in case you’re preparing multiple teacher gifts (that’s the Mommas of three mindset coming through).
I “Donut” Know What I’d do Without You
Combine this with a single donut for a little breakfast treat, or you could provide a box of donuts with this note and put it in the teacher’s lounge for many to enjoy.
To Teach is to Color a Life Forever
Teachers love quality office supplies; not only that, but they need them and use them! Add this note to some sharpies, a box of fancy markers, or some colorful pens for a useful gift.
I’m Soda-lighted to be in Your Class
Find out the teacher’s favorite soda, and send it with this note to class one day.
We’re in Good Hands with You
Hand soaps and hand sanitizers are always appreciated and useful when working with children, and it’s even better when it comes in a yummy scent.
You’re NACHO Average Teacher
Send this punny note with a bag of chips and salsa; or it could be added to a gift card to a local Mexican restaurant. If you know other parents with kids in the same class, you could go in together to get the teacher a gift card to enjoy a dinner out; everyone enjoys a night off from cooking!
It’s Been a Real Treat Being in Your Class
This one is easy and works well combined with any treat- candy, cookie, cupcake, anything sweet will work here.
Thank You Berry Much
This is another fun option that will work for a variety of treats. You could do actual berries, a fruit smoothie, berry fruit snacks, strawberry yogurt pretzels, Haribo Berries, or really anything berry flavored will work.
Sugar, Smarts, and Really Big Hearts; That’s What Teachers are Made Of
Once again, any sugary treat will go with this note. A little sugar boost is always appreciated.
You’re Tea-riffic!
Iced tea, hot tea, any tea will work. You could even add some honey sticks with a box of tea for a nice gift for the teacher to enjoy later.
C is for Caffeine. Which You Totally Deserve!
Most teachers like coffee or a gift card to a coffee shop. Yes, this is a common teacher gift, but it is useful and appreciated. You could always think out of the box and do a local coffee shop.
Thanks for Making Me a Smart Cookie
We think you get this one; add a favorite cookie or two. This is another theme that would work for giving to a team of teachers or an entire staff.
Unlike this Pizza, You Can’t Be Topped
Combine this note with a gift card to a favorite pizza joint. The amount given doesn’t have to cover the whole dinner, even a $5 gift card helps cover the cost of the meal.
Thanks for Sparking my Creative Juices
Attach this note to a yummy juice or smoothie for a healthy treat.
You Deserve Extra Brownie Points for All You Do
Who doesn’t love a good fudgy brownie? This gooey baked good is sure to bring a smile to any teacher.
Teaching is Your Jam
Add this note to a jar of jam or an assortment of mini jams; it could also go with jam thumbprint cookies.
Thanks for Everything You Do ‘Round Here
Perfect addition for a bagel and cream cheese; a great way for a teacher to start his/ her morning during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Thanks for Teaching My A-Zs
This little gem pairs well with an Amazon gift cards which is, perhaps, the favorite gift of all. Amazon allows a teacher to get something for themselves or something for their classroom- the options are endless! Plus, a gift card allows you to pick the amount that you are comfortable gifting.
We Appreciate You a Whole Bunch, so Please Enjoy This Special Lunch
We can tell you from experience that this one is always a hit with the teachers. We like to email them in advance to ask their favorite fast-food restaurant, what they like to order from there, and what time is their lunch. With that information, we let them know which day we’ll be delivering them lunch to their school for them. Most of the time, you can deliver the food to the office, and they will get it to the intended teacher.
Have your own gift idea in mind? Great! Here are some cute thank you cards that you can add. Also, a kind message on the back is a gift in itself. You (the parent) or you child can write a personalized message to their teacher fulfilling their Words Love Language! Taking the time to write a thoughtful comment will mean so much to the teacher.
Thanks for Being My Teacher
Have your child fill out this form all about their teacher, or if they aren’t independent writers yet, write down their answer to each question. Have the child draw a picture of their teacher as a cute addition!
Thank You Coloring Page
This is a perfect gift from a young learner plus a fun way to involve the child in the appreciation process.
To make showing love to your favorite teachers even easier, we’ve put together a curated Amazon shopping list with all the essentials—cute gifts to match all our cards that say “you’re amazing” without the stress of running from store to store. Just add the goodies to your cart, order, print the matching cards, sign, and voila! you’ve just warmed the teacher’s heart and put a smile on their face.
Combined we have been in the world of education for more than forty years—and let us tell you, teachers are magic.
